About the Driver
Colton grew up around racing - but not cars. His Dad, Mom and Papa have all been involved in some way or another with Horse Racing since before Colton was born.
Papa, Emile Corbel had a lucrative career as a horse trainer at Assiniboia Downs and was named Leading Trainer multiple times during that time. Dad, Derek Corbel was an Amateur Jockey, Exercise Rider, and Gate Crewman before working his way up to his current position as Assistant Director of Racing. Mom, Sharon started working as a groom for Emile and eventually took a position as Farm Manager for Arnason’s Icelandic Horse Farm and Thoroughbred Racing Stable. Colton has been around race horses his entire life, but it was never a desire of his to join the “family business”.
When Colton was around 6 or 7 years old, his “Uncle” Keith Corbel got him watching the Daytona 500 of the Nascar Cup Series and he was instantly hooked. Ever since then, all he has wanted to do was become a Nascar Driver. Annually, he organizes a family Nascar pool where each participant picks a driver to cheer for during the season, and rarely does a weekend go by where he doesn’t watch the Cup Series races.
For Colton, Karting is the first step in achieving his dream of a career in Nascar. He is extremely dedicated and has been working very hard to improve his performance every week. He loves the sport and has made some incredible friendships since joining the Manitoba Karting Association.
Things are just getting started for this aspiring Race Car driver, so stay tuned!
